 Here is a letter from Paul to the church in Colosse and to us. The first part of the letter is a basic description of who Christ is and how Christ's being (existence) affects you and I. Here is a break down of the first chapter: Who is Jesus Christ? (See verses 15-20): He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. By Him all things were created- in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, all spiritual rulers, lords, powers and authorities. Everything was made through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the first born from the dead, that in everything He might be first (preeminent). All the fullness of God was pleased to dwell in Jesus, and through Christ all things where reconciled to Himself.  For all things, whether on Earth or in Heaven Christ made peace by the blood of the cross. It seems to me that there is so much advice out there about how to live life. When presented as a collection of punchy phrases they seem a contradictory bunch, don’t they? The truth is I don’t think anyone really knows the formula to live a happy life. Really, how could we know when we are all having our first go at this?   For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord , plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope - Jeremiah 29:11 The verse above is one of the most quoted verses of scripture. Whatever the situation is, whether it be of a worthy or not-so-worthy cause, whether it be ordained by God or not, whether it has passed through intense scrutiny using the scripture as a guideline- whatever the situation is- this passage is often used as encouragement saying, “God’s plans are to give you a future and a hope”. On hearing this, you may take a look into the distance with  your binoculars, but if your green pastures are a successful career, a nice house and being recognised by others, you are missing the true and entire glorious scenery. In approximately two and a half months, I will be turning 22. Don't mind that my blog profile still says I am 19, it is obvious little has changed on here since then. Having evaluated the last year of my life I thought I should share a few life keys I learnt these past months. In no particular order, here's to being 21! 1) Being 21 doesn't change much. Ah, the lovely sound from the tapping of my keys. It's been too long since I blogged. There are too many things that have happened in my life since I last published a post on here, these things I don't classify blog-worthy or are extremely personal, so I will skip a lot of the details and say what is on my mind right now. Since I was a little girl, I haven't always been fascinated by trains. This is to say that because they were not usual in my life, I didn't concern myself with them. I say this to point out that my story is not something that emerges from the deep-seated passions of locomotives instead, it is just about a recent observation that I have made. In fact, trains were almost a myth where I grew up and I still remember the excitement I felt when we were going to an excursion to see one in secondary school. But back to my point. I was excited when I read on my BBM updates that this book was going to be made available to the public to enjoy last week. Soon after I had asked the author where I could get the book, I made my way to the University's Waterstones with a wide grin on my face. The inquisitive shop-attendant broke the news that it had not been stocked on our rural shelves yet, so he asked that I order it and expect it within two days. It came the next day.  My reading of The Spider King's Daughter was crammed into short breaks between typing up laboratory reports and essays at first, but something had to give. I finished the book that day. It is a page-turner and for a reader as myself who likes all the details on every page to sink in, I had to make sacrifices. Though the book's title gives the opinion that "daughter" is the main character, in my opinion the book is a coalition of many different characters, each receiving a good share of limelight.
