One of the things that I have accepted, although reluctantly, is that it is impossible for everyone to be my "good" friend.  I have tried hard to keep people I have met at some stage in life very close- regardless of distance, interests, religion, beliefs and life views. With time, I realised that wanting to be close to everyone meant my being close to no one. It's impossible to give your full attention and time to everyone. Only God can do that. So rather than tie people down with half-hearted friendships, I am learning to be sincere in defining my relationships. Understanding that I can’t be everything to everyone, I have had to stop putting on others the burden to be a great friend. I understand that if anyone made a promise to ALWAYS be there but they haven’t actually been, they must have had good intentions but as people say, life happens. So I forgive you because I haven’t been the perfect friend myself and I need to be forgiven too. But thanks be to God! Yes...

I often have times when I say to myself “I shouldn’t really be doing this, but this is the last time I will indulge”. Honestly, I know that the last time is usually not the last as there is high chance that I will be faced with the situation one more time. The thing is we live in a fallen world and what that means for Christ’s followers is that no matter how hard we try, we have desires for things that are not good for us. A desire in itself may not be harmful but when followed by action, it is given its power. James, the brother of Jesus, speaks about this: “ … each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death” -James 1:14-15 Desire is that thing within us that seems to  have a life of its own.  Here is a letter from Paul to the church in Colosse and to us. The first part of the letter is a basic description of who Christ is and how Christ's being (existence) affects you and I. Here is a break down of the first chapter: Who is Jesus Christ? (See verses 15-20): He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. By Him all things were created- in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, all spiritual rulers, lords, powers and authorities. Everything was made through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the first born from the dead, that in everything He might be first (preeminent). It seems to me that there is so much advice out there about how to live life. When presented as a collection of punchy phrases they seem a contradictory bunch, don’t they? The truth is I don’t think anyone really knows the formula to live a happy life. Really, how could we know when we are all having our first go at this?   For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord , plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope - Jeremiah 29:11 The verse above is one of the most quoted verses of scripture. Whatever the situation is, whether it be of a worthy or not-so-worthy cause, whether it be ordained by God or not, whether it has passed through intense scrutiny using the scripture as a guideline- whatever the situation is- this passage is often used as encouragement saying, “God’s plans are to give you a future and a hope”. On hearing this, you may take a look into the distance with  your binoculars, but if your green pastures are a successful career, a nice house and being recognised by others, you are missing the true and entire glorious scenery. In approximately two and a half months, I will be turning 22. Don't mind that my blog profile still says I am 19, it is obvious little has changed on here since then. Having evaluated the last year of my life I thought I should share a few life keys I learnt these past months. In no particular order, here's to being 21! 1) Being 21 doesn't change much. To your mum, you are always a child. 2) God answers prayers, sometimes you'd have to look even closer to see it 3) I have a very different sense of humour. 4) Time flies when you are not having fun too.
