Happy New Year!

Happy new year dear readers!
A lot has happened since I last posted on here, but I’ll spare you the details because you are not here to keep up with my personal life. You come here for encouragement and upliftment, so that’s what you’ll get, Lord-willing 😊.
Most of us would have started the year all fired-up and revving to go, to go achieve all the goals we have set, to meet new targets, to build new relationships and indeed, to just have a wonderful trail-blazing year! There’s a general feeling of great expectations in the atmosphere (vague term, but I am sure you understand), isn’t there?
I came across this verse in Hebrews during the holidays, and timely it was. It says:
“So, we say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”” (Hebrews 13:6)
Reading this inspired great courage in me to achieve remarkable things this year, to let go of my fears and to not be held down by the opinions of others.
That’s not all I learnt though. It goes even deeper. Further down in the same chapter, I read this:
Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever (Hebrews 13 v 20 - 21, emphasis mine)
We all want this year to be spectacular, but what is most spectacular is knowing that God has planned good works for you and me to accomplish, and even more, He is working in us to do what is pleasing to Him. Ephesians 2: 10 buttresses this point:
...we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
So, thank God, 2018 does not have to be another year of aimless hustle. There is a master-plan of good works God has set aside for us to achieve, and if we trust in Jesus and rely on His Spirit to help and guide us, we will achieve much more than we have written in our fresh diaries and planners. He will work in us to please Him.
Stay blessed and have a happy new year!
Love,

  1. Another encouraging word FeyVored, it is very re-assuring to know that even in uncertainty God's promises are ye and amen! Surely must endeavour to key into them even as we launch into the new year.

Power 2.0: Doing the Impossible

God has spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongs unto God. -Psalm 62:11 God, Sovereign, unbound by no rules, has done what you and I can never do. By making His Son Jesus to die for our sins, He has shown HIS great power. It is the most impossible feat; the most Holy and blameless person who walked this earth took the place of the most sinful and unrighteous men, as He took on the sins of all the world upon His shoulders. This was to make us, we who revelled in our uncleanness, blind and oblivious to our sorry state, become perfect in God's sight. And why does this show His power? It is because it is a work that not even the strongest, most zealous, enthusiastic person can dream of achieving. It is because it is a work that transcends time and will carry on into eternity. It is because it is a work that no one can dispute, no one can stand against it. God planned and He did it, and no one can come in the way of what He has achieved. So, by God...

How Great Thou Art: God's glory in the Arts

I remember how I saw colour that day. The green trees, the blue sky, the brown soil, everything vivid and bright. It was the usual walking route with the usual after-work tiredness, but, as if my eyes had been opened from blindness, the mundane became vibrant and I stopped to take it all in. The words from the popular hymn, How Great Thou Art, come to mind: When through the woods and forest glades I wander And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur And hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze The greatness of God’s works was displayed before me, like an artist exhibiting his masterpieces in a gallery. Hidden in the seemingly dull and ordinary was His beauty being uncovered. I thought to myself “how great is His creation, the work of His hands.” “The heavens declare the glory of God, the sky above proclaims His handiwork” (Psalm 19:1). O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder, Consider all t...

Remembering the Never-forgotten

Remembrance Day It is not merely a time to recognise the fighters it is one of  many, with its stings of loss and chills of disbelief  heightened The "here today" could be the "gone tomorrow" And the parts of lives that were filled with you now remain bare Losing you has made us stronger Empowering us with a new hope. Without it, we crumble Your courage so contagious In your heart of love and war Still, beating on Rest in peace now, You never have to fight again For you, L.A, forever in our hearts
